ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE INDEPENDENT POWER TRANSMISSION OPERATOR (IPTO SA) CONCERNING THE PUBLIC CONSULTATION (Phase A’ 18/12/2017 – 22/1/2018) OF THE BALANCING MARKET CODE
Concerning the Participants’ comments during Phase A’ of the Public Consultation of the Balancing Market Code, requesting an extension of its duration, we would like to point out the following:
As stated in the announcement of the initiation of Phase A’ of public consultation, the draft of the Code has been compiled on the basis of the current legislative framework. It was also highlighted that Phase B' of public consultation will be launched following, the adaption of the future legislative interventions (Energy Stock Exchange).
At 15/01/2018 the legislation establishing the Energy Stock Exchange passed by the Greek Parliament, that brings changes in the management of the other electricity markets (Day-Ahead, Forward and Intraday) and provides for the establishment of a clearing Entity of all markets.
Having regard to the above, the extension of the duration of Phase A’ of the Public Consultation, is not deemed as purposeful.
For the sake of completeness the adapted Balancing Market Code will be set to public consultation (Phase B’) along with the regulations - as the Codes as now called - of the other markets.
The System Operator will be expecting up until Monday 22/01/2018 the comments of Participants, mainly concerning the strategic choices of the implementation of “Target Model” in Greece.
