General Division of Operation, Infrastructure and Market

The Energy Management Support Department is responsible for the development, operation, and technical support of the energy management systems used at the Energy Control Centers (ECCs) and for preparing system protection, supporting and energy management studies, aimed at the optimal and secure operation of the power system.

The mission of IPTO’s Performance Planning Department is to support the Chief Officer of Operation, Infrastructure & Market by proposing initiatives that enhance organizational readiness, introduce new processes, and improve the effectiveness of the General Directorate's operations.

The Transmission System Operation & Control Department (TSOCD) is responsible for the supervision, control and operation of the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System (HETS), with the mission of assuring the uninterrupted supply of the country with electricity, while always meeting electricity transmission quality and performance criteria. It moreover participates in the electricity market scheduling and operation.

The broader changes in the energy sector in the context of creating a single competitive electricity market at European level, render the Market Management Department one of the most dynamic, flexible and innovative departments of IPTO.

From an organisational aspect it falls under the General Division of Operation, Infrastructure and Market and consists of three Sectors.
