Health and Safety Department

The mission of the Health & Safety Department is to ensure a safe, healthy, and sustainable working environment for all employees, contractors, partners, and visitors, decisively contributing to the reliable operation and development of the country's critical energy infrastructure.
Health and Safety is a core value and an uncompromising priority for the IPTO Group.  As the operator responsible for the management and development of Greece's Electricity Transmission System, IPTO places the protection of people at the heart of all its activities, from the operation and maintenance of facilities to the delivery of complex technical projects and its collaboration with contractors.
The Health & Safety Department develops and implements policies, standards, and procedures that ensure compliance with applicable legislation and international best practices, while promoting the continuous improvement of health and safety performance across all Group companies.
Its key responsibilities include hazard identification and risk assessment, monitoring the implementation of preventive and protective measures, investigating incidents and near misses, developing training and awareness programmes, managing health and safety matters relating to contractors and partners, and supporting operational units in the effective management of risks associated with their activities.
The Department also acts as a strategic partner to the Group's operational functions by integrating modern risk management practices, leveraging data and performance indicators, and supporting informed decision-making. Particular emphasis is placed on fostering a robust safety culture, where leadership commitment, active employee participation, and personal accountability serve as fundamental pillars of prevention.
The Department's primary objectives are to eliminate workplace accidents and minimize occupational hazards, strengthen prevention through the early identification of hazards, enhance operational preparedness and resilience, and further embed a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
Through its activities, the Health & Safety Department contributes to the development of a modern, responsible, and resilient IPTO Group, supporting its strategic vision for safe growth and the sustainable creation of value for society and the country.
