Welcome to the CRETE VALLEY newsletter! Almost a year and a half into the CRETE VALLEY journey, we’re proud to share our progress - and it’s been a busy time! Our mission to establish a Renewable Energy Valley (REV) in Crete is advancing on multiple fronts, with exciting developments both on Community Energy Labs (CELs) maturity and digital infrastructure progress as well as the project’s outreach. Expanding visibility across Europe In the past months, the project has made its presence felt across Europe and beyond. CRETE VALLEY participated in major energy events like ENLIT Europe, where we presented our vision and exchanged insights with innovators from across the continent. On the scientific front, we’ve published four research papers, deepening the knowledge base that supports our Living Lab approach. Local engagement and milestones Closer to home, our CELs continue to grow and evolve, engaging with local stakeholders and co-creating the future of the Crete REV-Lab. Next month marks a milestone for our project with a series of public and stakeholder-focused events taking place during the Renewable Energy Days in Crete. Targeted workshops, community-focused activities, and interactive showcases will offer a comprehensive look at the project’s advancements to the wider audience of Crete. We’ve also released an info-pack based on the D1.1 Handbook, offering a practical introduction to the project’s structure and vision. This resource is designed to support community members, researchers, and decision-makers who want to better understand the REV-Lab concept and its potential for Crete. Finally, the first technological release of Crete Valley is just around the corner. Data-driven services and a system-of-systems Digital Twin will be handed out to their dedicated end-users in order to officially initiate the operational testing of the Crete REV-Lab. CRETE VALLEY is more than a project - it's a movement toward a decentralised, resilient, and people-centred energy future.
