Frydas Nikolaos

Nikos Frydas is a Power Systems Engineer and Energy Economist with an international professional career spanning 34 years in the energy sector. He specializes in the Design and Regulation of Electricity Markets, in the transformation of Power Systems “fit” for the energy transition and new Business Models for energy utilities. 

Mr. Frydas professional record includes working with major European Utilities (National Grid UK, PPC Greece) and Energy Trading firms (EDF Trading, Merrill Lynch), and as member of the management team of ENTSO-E in Brussels. In the period of 2004-2007 he was appointed by the United Nations, as the first Chairman of the Regulatory Office of Kosovo, while subsequently he spent several years as senior staff member of the World Bank based in Belgrade. 

Mr. Frydas holds a MSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from DUTh (Greece), a MSc degree in Power Systems Engineering from University of Strathclyde (UK), and a MSc degree in Energy Economics and Regulation from University of Strathclyde. He also holds Certificates from London School of Economic and University Luigi Bocconi, for courses in Energy Regulation Economics. 

Mr. Frydas is a Chartered Engineer in the UK’s Engineering Council, a Member of the Technical Chamber of Greece, as well as member of the International Association of Energy Economists. He is a regular visiting Lecturer of “ESCP Europe” in their London and Paris campuses. He is also a Member of the Board of Great Sea Interconnector.
