Crossbow
Project Description
CROSSBOW promotes the cross-border coordinated management of RES and storage facilities in order to increase the penetration of clean energy sources, while reducing the operating costs of energy systems. Technologies being developed include Demand Response schemes involving demand aggregators, Virtual Storage Plants, and transnational energy markets. These technologies will be evaluated by eight South East European Transmission System Operators (TSOs).
The main contribution of IPTO to the project is the implementation and evaluation of cross-border power exchange algorithms with two different approaches: the Available Transfer Capacity (ATC) method and the Flow-based (FB) method. The two methods will be tested under different scenarios for the South East Europe region and the results will feed into the Regional Operational Center (ROC), a key tool implemented within the CROSSBOW project. The implementation is led by the Research University Institute of Communications and Computer Systems (ICCS) of NTUA, with the participation of the Interregional Security Coordination Center (SCC) and the South East Europe Transmission System Operators (TSOs).
