TwinEU attended the Electrical and Computer Engineering Student Conference of Greece (ECESCON) 2026

On 17/19.04.2026, the IPTO Department of Research, Technology and Development (DRTD) team attended the 17th Electrical and Computer Engineering Student Conference of Greece (ECESCON) 2026 at the Technical University of Chania. ECESCON is the largest engineering student conference in Greece, bringing together future innovators in Power systems, Control Systems, Electronics, Computing, and Telecommunications.

During the event we had the opportunity to meet with young talents, discuss about IPTO’s culture, and presented our work at a specially dedicated workshop under the subject “Digitalizing the Energy System: Markets, Flexibility, and Grid Intelligence”. Within that workshop, we presented several research projects that DRTD participates in, namely the Crete Valley, THEUS, Sinnogenes, Hedge-IoT, TwinEU, Unity-6G, and CAPE, covering different topics, i.e. Flexibility Markets, Digitalization of Power Systems, 6G Integration in the future power systems, etc. All research projects aim at introducing new technologies to the design and operation of the Transmission System and promoting the Energy System digitalization and the enhanced operation of the Electricity Market.

In particular, we presented TwinEU project that aims at creating a Digital Twin (DT) of the entire European electricity grid. The DT enables the execution of various simulations to investigate potential scenarios that may arise during network operation. The scope of the project is to improve the management, operations, and resilience of the EU grid by supporting the research and development of new technologies to foster an advanced concept of the DT.

We are proud to see TwinEU featured at such a dynamic forum for the next generation of engineers.
