Event at the National Control Center in Kryoneri

An event was held at the National Energy Control Center in Kryoneri, which involved upgrading and updating its software, hardware and control rooms, after more than 20 years of seamless operation.

On 20 December 2019, the Management of IPTO gave Mr Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of Environment and Energy and Ms Alexandra Sdoukou, General Secretary for Energy and Mineral Resources of the Ministry, a tour of the control rooms, where digital display walls have installed showing all electrical interconnections, including the new islands recently interconnected with the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System.

The Energy Management System (EMS) and the Market Management System and Market Settlement System (MMS, MSS) of IPTO are critical national infrastructures, necessary for monitoring, operating and controlling the Hellenic Interconnected Electricity Production and Transmission System, and for running the Liberalised Electricity Market.

The project, of a total EUR 4.8 million budget, is co-financed from national and European funds in the framework of NSRF 2014-2020 and incorporates the rapid developments achieved in the Electricity Market in recent years.
