Performance Planning Department

The mission of IPTO’s Performance Planning Department is to support the Chief Officer of Operation, Infrastructure & Market by proposing initiatives that enhance organizational readiness, introduce new processes, and improve the effectiveness of the General Directorate's operations. In this context, the Department contributes to the development of structured operational practices aimed at improving performance and the continuous enhancement of business processes.

To support its mission, the Department systematically monitors developments in the broader energy sector and follows trends affecting the Transmission System and the electricity market at national, European, and international level. In particular, it analyses regulatory, institutional, socioeconomic, and policy developments that may affect the energy market, energy infrastructure, and the operation of the Transmission System.

Its responsibilities include assessing these developments and their potential implications, by preparing analyses, memos and reports for the management of the General Division of Operation, Infrastructure & Market. The Department also collects, organizes, and manages information on the evolution of energy policies, technologies, and market models across the European and international energy landscape.

It monitors technical and operational practices adopted by other transmission system operators and submits recommendations regarding their potential incorporation into the General Division's operational processes. The Department further develops recommendations on matters related to the transformation of the energy sector, technological advancements, the green transition, and their implications for the structure and operation of the Transmission System.

As part of its responsibilities, it collaborates with key organizations in the Greek energy sector, including the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO), the Operator of RES & Guarantees of Origin S.A. (DAPEEP), the Hellenic Energy Exchange, the Operator of the Greek National Natural Gas System (DESFA), and other stakeholders.  At the same time, it facilitates the flow of information and coordination among the Departments of the General Division of Operation, Infrastructure & Market, as well as with other organizational units across IPTO.

Through its activities, the Performance Planning Department supports the systematic monitoring of developments affecting the energy environment and the operation of the Transmission System, while contributing recommendations within the scope of its mission and responsibilities.
