The third Sustainability Report of IPTO Group was published

In 2021, the Group’s social product amounted to EUR 258 million

The Group’s annual Sustainability Report was published by IPTO for the third consecutive year. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the new Report, with reference period being the year 2021, describes in detail the Group’s performance in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) matters, as well as the Operator’s overall contribution to the implementation of the national policy for the transition to a low-carbon economy. 

IPTO, through critical projects of domestic and international electrical interconnections, amounting to EUR 5 billion until 2030, plays a decisive role in the sustainable development of the country and contributes significantly to energy transition at the national and regional level. In the midst of the climate crisis, it prioritizes the energy security of consumers by strengthening the resilience of electrical infrastructure, while it promotes, through IT and Telecommunications projects, the digital transformation of the Company and Greece as a whole.

The Operator also continues to contribute at a socio-economic level, effectively supporting local communities and creating value for all stakeholders. In 2021, the Group’s social product amounted to EUR 258 million with the actions and programs of Corporate Social Responsibility implemented in the regions where it operates having reached a total of EUR 1.2 million.

On the occasion of the publication of the Sustainable Development Report 2021, the Chairman and CEO of ADMIE Mr. Manos Manousakis, said: “In 2021, we took important steps towards the horizontal integration of sustainable development in all aspects of ADMIE Group’s operation and despite the difficult conditions, we made great progress in our investment program, with which we will more than double the Electricity Transmission System by 2030. In 2021, we completed on time the landmark electricity interconnection of Crete-Peloponnese, vigorously continued the construction of the Crete-Attica interconnection and launched the fourth and final phase of the Cyclades interconnection. At the same time, we maintained a high rate of connection of new RES to the System and continued to invest in the modernization and digital upgrade of our electrical and telecommunication infrastructures. IPTO has evolved into a modern Electricity Transmission Operator that integrates the best international practices in all areas of its operation and carries out its institutional mission with respect for people and the environment.”

The Report complies with the highest standards on the disclosure of sustainability data, as it has been compiled in accordance with the requirements of the GRI Standards, the SASB Standards, the TCFD recommendations, while for the first time it covers performance indicators of the Athens Stock Exchange “ESG Reporting Guide 2022”. With the aim of enhancing the transparency and reliability of the published data, the Report has also been audited by an external assurance body.
