The Independent Power Transmission Operator assures all citizens that the country's power supply is shielded against the coronavirus.
IPTO has taken all the measures necessary to protect its staff and critical infrastructure from day one. Strict sanitisation protocols have been established in the Energy Control Center, to minimize the eventuality of the staff’s infection. Moreover, specialised emergency plans have been drawn up for different pandemic scenarios, which will allow the Power Transmission System to continue to operate with stability and security at all times.
At the power adequacy level, the country faces no issues. Particularly during this period of the year, due to the average temperatures prevailing, demand is reduced, and the System’s loads range at low levels.
Mr Manos Manousakis, Chairman and CEO of IPTO, noted on the subject: "IPTO guarantees the country's energy security. No matter how the COVID-19 pandemic develops, public services, businesses and homes will have power. We will stay home as long as necessary in order to protect ourselves and our fellow citizens.”
