Launch of Transmission Lines repositioning project in Penteli

The Independent Power Transmission Operator announces the contracting of High Voltage Transmission Lines (400 kV) repositioning project, in Nea Penteli, with a budget of 1.8 million euros. The contract was signed today, March 17, 2021 between the Operator and the contractor company "ATERMON ATTEE" in Nea Penteli, in the presence of the mayor of Penteli Municipality, Mrs. Dimitra Kehagia.

The project includes the relocation of sections of two Transmission Lines (T.L.) that pass through the urban sprawl of Nea Penteli and has a seven-month implementation time frame. The project has been integrated in the Preliminary Ten-Year Development Plan 2021 - 2030 and will be co-financed by Greek and EU funds through NSRF 2014-2020.

The Deputy Chairman and General Director of IPTO’s Technology, System Planning and Strategy Division, Mr. Ioannis Margaris, stated: "The project had been studied by the competent services of the Operator a decade ago, following requests from the Municipality of Penteli, but was included in the Ten-Year Development Plan (2021 - 2030) just last year. The Management of IPTO is close to the local communities and their needs, ensuring the smallest possible footprint in its projects, wherever this is possible".

The mayor of Penteli, Mrs. Dimitra Kehagia, commented: "I am very happy that a project for which all previous administrations of our Municipality worked on, enters the final stage of its completion, with today's signature. I am twofold delighted because the participation of our Administration was crucial, as by changing the way of financing the whole project, we managed to implement it without economic burden for our Municipality. I thank all those who worked for this positive outcome, especially the President and CEO of IPTO Manos Manousakis for the impeccable and good cooperation we have had all this time and I assure that the Municipality will help IPTO to complete the project quickly and correctly”.
