The coordinated and efficient cooperation between Transmission System Operators (TSO) and Distribution System Operators (DSO), with the aim of a transition to a modern and efficient energy market, was at the focus of the three-day “SEERC 6th TAC Meeting & Workshop”, organised by CIGRE on 23-25 January in Athens, with the contribution of IPTO and HEDNO.
The event was attended by more than 40 executives of the Electricity sector, 25 invited from 16 countries of South-east Europe. Participants had the opportunity to be informed on matters of Operator cooperation, through nine scientific papers presenting the research, design and technological achievements of the Operators. As part of the event, IPTO welcomed the attendees and gave them a tour of the National Energy Control Center, which was recently brought up to date with the installation of digital display systems.
In his statement, Mr Ioannis Margaris, General Director of Technology, System Development & Strategy of IPTO, and a member of the Board of the Greek CIGRE Committee, presented the Ten-year Development Plan of the Greek System, making special reference to the interconnections of the islands and the international interconnections which the Operator is implementing and planning. He particularly emphasized specific issues of coordination between IPTO and HEDNO, which are becoming increasingly important in the midst of the rapid developments taking place in terms of technology and electricity market at national and European level.
