Ariadne Interconnection, a subsidiary of IPTO, announces the successful completion of the tender process for the cable parts of the Crete-Attica Interconnection and the selection of the contractors for the four separate parts of the project.
After an e-auction on November 14, 2019, the lowest bidders were:
Prysmian, for the first part, involving the design, procurement and installation of one of the two submarine cables to connect Crete to Attica, and the electrode stations in Crete and Attica.
2. Nexans, for the second part of the second submarine cable.
3. Companies Hellenic Cables-NKT for the third part, that relates to the underground cable parts that will connect the Converter Stations in Crete and Attica with the submarine cable parts.
4. Prysmian for the fourth part, involving the design, procurement and installation of fiber optics.
The project has been included in Operational Programme “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the NSRF 2014-2020”.
Mr Manos Manousakis, Chairman of Ariadne Interconnection and Chairman and CEO of parent group IPT, noted on the subject: “The selection of contractors for the cable parts of the project confirms the largest infrastructure project in Power Transmission, which is being implemented without delays. The interconnection of Crete with the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System, which is a priority of the country's strategic energy plan, is successfully entering the implementation phase, to fully ensure Crete’s interconnection with the mainland system by 2023.”
