Launch of IPTO

IPTO undertakes the role of Transmission System Operator  for the Hellenic  Electricity Transmission System

As of today, February 1st  2012, the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO or ADMIE), undertakes the role of Transmission System Operator  for the Hellenic  Electricity Transmission System. The ADMIE S.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of PPC S.A., was established in compliance with the requirements of the European Union Directive 2009/72/EC.

The Directive’s requirements have been transposed in Greek legislation in Law 4001/2011, which stipulates the establishment of ADMIE as a wholly owned subsidiary of PPC, according to the Independent Transmission Operator(ITO) unbundling model, as described in the Directive. According to the a.m. Greek Law, ADMIE undertakes the role of Transmission System Operator for the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System under which ADMIE performs all duties of Transmission System operation, control, maintenance and development that were previously assigned to the Hellenic Transmission System Operator (HTSO) as the System Operator and PPC’s Transmission Business Unit as the System Owner.
