IPTO supports the National Health System in the battle against COVID-19

Supporting society in the battle against the coronavirus

The Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO) supports the National Health System in a practical manner to help it meet the increased healthcare needs created by the spread of the virus in the country.

The Operator directly contacted the reference hospitals in order to find out about their needs in equipment. To IPTO’s offer responded the “Sotiria” Hospital, the University Hospital of Patra, the University Hospital of Herakleion and the General Hospital of Chania. The supply of the equipment is under way, and it includes ICU and transport ventilators, X-ray machines, infusion pumps with their consumables and isobox prefab buildings.

At the same time, State Grid, IPTO’s strategic partner, has made a commitment to assist the Greek society in the battle against the pandemic, which it has already fought in China. In this framework, it has ensured the immediate donation of 500,000 protective masks to the Ministry of Health, and it is expected to make further donations.

Kostis Hatzidakis, Minister of Environment and Energy, stated on the subject: “Congratulations to IPTO, which during this critical time for Greece, is demonstrating such social awareness. We would also like to thank State Grid for its donations to the National Health System. I would like to remind that during these difficult times, energy sector companies are all continuously and uninterruptedly offering critical social work, in seamlessly meeting the needs of the hour with any form of energy. Congratulations to the executives and employees of these companies.”

Mr Vasilis Kikilias, Minister of Health, noted: “I would like to thank IPTO, which is supporting our hospitals at this difficult time, with a sense of social responsibility. The doctors, nurses, paramedical and administrative staff need everyone’s help. We are doing and we continue to do everything needed to address this unprecedented Public Health crisis”.

Mr Manos Manousakis, IPTO Chairman and CEO, stated on the subject: “From day one of the COVID-10 crisis in our country, IPTO was mobilized to support Public Hospitals, which bear the greatest weight of this unprecedented crisis. The Operator will assist with all its means our fellow citizens who are affected more by the disease.”
